Plant morphology

Pharmacological&Toxicological Effects
Tribulus terrestris has a slightly warm nature and a spicy and bitter taste. The Compendium of Materia Medica: Prickling thistle, dispelling wind and air, and treating hydration syndrome. Its nature promotes quick and easy circulation, it can transport energy and dispel stagnation in the liver and spleen. Taking it frequently and for a long time has the effect of removing stagnation. This species is a toxic plant included in the Chinese Plant Atlas Database. Its toxicity is that it is toxic to the whole plant. Horse eating tender stems can cause poisoning, and sheep eating it can cause swelling of the head and ears, similar to the symptoms caused by the secondary photosensitive toxin hypericin. It is called "head yellow spot disease" or commonly known as "big head disease". Plants contain toxic amounts of potassium nitrite, which can cause suffocation, while water extracts have a mild antihypertensive effect; Alcohol extract has an excitatory respiratory effect on anesthetized dogs. The LD50 of intraperitoneal injection in rats is 56.4mg/kg, and symptoms include restlessness, hair erection, tremors, etc., followed by deep inhibition and death. Sting fruit can cause mechanical damage. Oral administration of white thistle powder resulted in a fishy red fever like rash.

2. Ci Ci Ci Ci and Sha Yuan Zi: Ci Ci Ci Ci is bitter and pungent, with a slightly warm nature. It enters the liver meridian and is long for calming the liver and soothing the liver. It is necessary to use medicine to dispel wind and improve vision; Shayuanzi is sweet and warm, mainly entering the liver and kidney meridians. Indications:
1. Lumbar and spinal pain. Mash the thistle seeds into powder, add honey to make meatballs, about the size of Hu beans. Take two pills per serving and serve with wine. Take it three times a day.

2. Swelling all over the body. Du Jili is decocted and washed daily.

3. Bad stool. Mix one or two pieces of thistle seeds (stir fried) and five pieces of pig tooth soapberry pods (peeled and crispy), and grind them into powder. One yuan per serving, salt tea soup is included.

4. Menstrual disorders. There are Tribulus terrestris and Angelica sinensis, which are divided into two equal parts. Three yuan per serving, rice soup is included.

5. Difficult labor (the fetus is in the belly and the placenta does not come down; or the fetus dies). Grind four taels of Tribulus terrestris and four taels of Fritillaria cocos into powder, and mix with rice soup for three qian. If it still doesn't go down after a while, you can take the medicine again.

6. Ascaris infection. Collect thistle seeds in early autumn and store them in the shade. Take one spoonful each time, three times a day.

10. Scars on the face. Combine the seeds of Tribulus terrestris and Gardenia jasminoides, and study them together until the end. Mix well with vinegar. Apply it to your face at night and wash it off in the morning.

11. Vitiligo. Use six liang of white thistle seeds, mash raw to powder. Two yuan per serving, hot water delivered. Take it twice a day. Cut off roots in one month. When taken for half a month, a red dot appears on the white area, indicating effectiveness.

12. Swelling. Boil one liter of thistle seeds over high heat, mash well, and mix with vinegar to seal the wound. Pulling out the roots is healing.

13. Earwig urinary ulcer. Mash and apply the leaves of thistle to the affected area. If there are no leaves, they can be replaced by offspring.
